Barry was born in Abilene, Teas while his father Sam was stationed at the nearby military base before being sent to war.  His uncle Shroyer taveled by train to pick up Betty and Barry  and brought them back to Shomakin, PA where the family would remain. He is the oldest of his 3 siblings  Sandy, Jeff, and Janet and has many cousins from the Shroyer Clan. They would all live near each other and have quite a bit of stories to tell.
